For more than 40 years, Huxted Trenchless has focused on the demanding work of microtunneling and horizontal directional drilling. We support public and private infrastructure owners, engineers, general contractors and construction managers with trenchless solutions designed to reduce surface disruption, manage subsurface risk and deliver reliable underground utility installations.
Whether serving as a general contractor or specialty subcontractor, Huxted brings the technical knowledge, equipment resources and field experience required to evaluate complex alignments, challenging ground conditions, environmental constraints, access limitations, utility conflicts and critical schedule requirements.
Together with our sister company, Northeast Remsco Construction, Huxted controls one of the largest fleets of microtunneling equipment in the country, with more than 16 microtunnel boring machines ranging from 24 inches to over 117 inches in diameter, along with horizontal directional drilling rigs ranging from 240,000 pounds to more than one million pounds of pullback capacity.
Our trenchless experience spans 35 states and a wide range of geotechnical conditions, including porous limestone, soft sands, silts, clays, mixed-face conditions and soft to hard rock. This breadth of experience gives our team the ability to plan, adapt and execute in environments where ground behavior, groundwater, settlement tolerance and access constraints can significantly affect project outcomes.
From large-diameter HDD installations and land-to-water shore approaches to precision microtunneling beneath highways, railroads, waterways, wetlands and urban corridors, Huxted has the technical capability and field-proven flexibility to take on some of the most difficult drilling and tunneling challenges in the United States.

That evolution accelerated in 2010, when the company’s assets were acquired by JAG Companies, a construction group built on the values of reputation, work ethic and team accomplishment.
Today, Huxted operates with the strength and support of the JAG Companies platform, including the complementary capabilities of Northeast Remsco Construction and Caldwell Marine International. This alignment gives our clients access to a broader range of heavy civil, marine, tunneling and trenchless resources, allowing us to approach complex infrastructure challenges with greater depth, coordination and technical capacity.
